# How to Create a Video with Revid AI (Step by Step)

## The creation flow in 6 steps

1. **Open the creator**: click "Create New Video" in the left sidebar at https://www.revid.ai (or use the API/CLI/MCP — see https://www.revid.ai/llm/revid-ai-for-ai-agents.md).
2. **Pick a tool/workflow** from the row at the top (Short Video Generator, Prompt to Video, Article to Video...). Click "Show More Tools" for the full library of 100+ tools.
3. **Provide your source**: type a script in the "Your Video Script" box, write a prompt, or paste a URL (YouTube, TikTok, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Spotify, Suno, SoundCloud, or any article).
4. **Choose your visuals**: media type (stock, moving AI images, AI video, your own media, gameplay), quality tier, style preset, mood, and characters.
5. **Pick voice, music, and captions**: select from the voice library (filter by language/gender/accent), choose or generate background music, pick a caption preset and alignment.
6. **Generate**: check the "Estimated cost" next to the button, then click "Generate video". Refine afterwards in the editor if needed.

## Script formatting (the most important skill)

Revid's script box supports lightweight markup that controls both narration and visuals:

- **Line breaks force new media.** Each paragraph after a blank line becomes a new scene/slide with its own visual.
- **`[Text in brackets]` guides visuals without being spoken.** Example: `[close-up of a cat] Did you know how to make viral videos?` shows a cat close-up while speaking the sentence.
- **`<break time="1.0s" />` inserts a timed pause** in the voice-over (any duration, e.g. `2.5s`).
- **Punctuation matters.** Short, properly punctuated sentences make the AI voice dramatically more natural.

## Importing content from the web

Paste a URL below the script box and Revid extracts and formats the content. Supported sources: YouTube, TikTok, Twitter/X posts, LinkedIn posts, Reddit posts, Spotify tracks, Suno songs, SoundCloud tracks, and general articles/blogs.

Control summarization with "How should we handle your content":
- **Summarize** (default) — AI condenses the content
- **Summarize if long** — only above 500 characters
- **Keep as is** — use the full original text

## Key customization options

- **Screen ratio**: 9:16 (TikTok/Reels/Shorts), 16:9 (YouTube), 1:1 (Instagram posts), or Auto.
- **Media density**: Few / Medium / More clips, or set an exact maximum.
- **Story style** (short videos): General, Fun Facts, News, Educational, How To, Listicle, Motivational, Personal, Horror, Life Hack, Fantasy, Business, Philosophy.
- **Toggles**: disable captions, add stickers, add sound effects, generate a cover/thumbnail, add watermark, NSFW/violence filter, language optimization.
- **Voice stability**: Stable / Balanced / Expressive.

## Recording yourself (optional)

The "Record" tab in the voice section lets you upload audio/video or record with a teleprompter (auto-scrolling script, adjustable speed). Your recording is transcribed and the transcript becomes the video script.
