The best TikTok video ideas right now are challenges, comedy skits, reactions, pet and animal clips, and faceless tutorials. In Revid's analysis of 176,367 TikToks with 1,000+ likes, challenges had the highest median at 182K views and comedy came next at 155K. Ordinary on-camera tutorials sat near 52K.
The surprise is how much the same idea changes with the camera. Faceless tutorials (hands, screen recordings, voice-over) had a 156K median, three times the 52K of tutorials with a person talking to camera. Pick the format before you pick the topic. Each idea below comes with hooks you can copy.
Which TikTok video ideas get the most views?
Revid indexes TikToks that pass 1,000 likes, and its AI labels each video's format, shooting style and mood. The 12-month sample covers 176,367 videos posted between October 2025 and October 2026 by 61,203 creators. In that sample, the median video had 64.4K views and 11.9% passed 1 million. Format split the field more than almost anything else:
| Format | Median views | Share past 1M views |
|---|---|---|
| Challenges | 182K | 25.6% |
| Comedy | 155K | 22% |
| Reactions | 105K | 16% |
| Dance | 84K | not reported |
| Storytelling | 66K | 12.2% |
| Tutorials | 62K | 12.1% |
Challenges and comedy passed 1M views about twice as often as tutorials and storytelling, which are the most common formats.

|---|---|---|
| Challenge | 182.3K | 25.6% |
| Comedy | 154.8K | 22.1% |
| Reaction | 104.8K | 16% |
| Dance | 83.8K | 15.5% |
| Storytelling | 66.1K | 12.2% |
| Lip Sync | 61.7K | 12.3% |
| Tutorial | 61.9K | 12.1% |
Two limits matter. Every video in the sample already cleared 1,000 likes, so this compares videos that did reasonably well. The figures also show what the best performers have in common, not what causes views. The method and every other chart are in Revid's full study on what makes a TikTok go viral.
12 creative TikTok video ideas (with hooks you can copy)
1. Challenges, including dance challenges
Challenges are the strongest format in the data: a 182K median and 25.6% past 1 million views. A challenge gives viewers a clear rule ("do X without Y", "recreate this", "try this for a week") and invites them to copy it, which spreads the original.
Dance challenges are the classic version, but on their own they had an 84K median. Routines like the Renegade spread because they were short and copyable. To stand out today, change one variable: the setting, the person (your grandmother, your coworkers), or the music genre. Pick a sound that is rising, not peaking, from the list of viral TikTok songs.
Hooks to try:
- "I tried this challenge with zero dance experience. Rate me."
- "Doing the trend, but at my office job."
- "Can you do this without laughing?"
2. Comedy skits and relatable humor
Comedy had a 155K median and 22% past 1 million. Humor was also the second-strongest mood in Revid's data (121K median), behind only outrage. Skits about shared frustrations work best: difficult customers, group chats, the first day at a new job, a parent learning a new app.
You don't need to act on camera. Faceless comedy (text-on-screen stories, animated characters, voice-over on footage) had a 327K median, against 136K for comedy with a person on camera. Khaby Lame built a huge following with silent reactions to overcomplicated life hacks, which shows how little dialogue a joke needs.
Hooks to try:
- "Things my manager says vs what they mean."
- "POV: the group chat when someone asks who's driving."
- "Every customer at a coffee shop, ranked."
Prompt to try
A 30-second vertical TikTok where a grumpy orange cat reviews three new toys, ranked from worst to best. Open with the hook "My cat reviews every toy I bought this week." Use a dry, funny voice-over narrating the cat's thoughts, warm home lighting and bold on-screen captions.
3. Pet and animal videos
In Revid's data, videos whose main subject is an animal had a 147K median and 24.1% passed 1 million views. That is ahead of faceless videos in general (114K) and well ahead of one person on camera (67K).
Faceless videos earned a median of 114K views, against 67K for videos with one person on camera, and passed 1M views 38% more often.

| Median views | Share that passed 1M views | |
|---|---|---|
| Animals | 147.4K | 24.1% |
| Faceless | 113.9K | 17.4% |
| Groups of people | 96.1K | 16% |
| Objects or products | 70.8K | 13.2% |
| One person on camera | 67.4K | 12.7% |
Animal clips work because they need no explanation and almost no editing. Keep your phone ready, since the best moments last seconds. Then give the pet a recurring role: a voice-over that narrates its thoughts, a weekly "review" of its toys, or a training progress series. Accounts like Tucker Budzyn grew by giving one animal a consistent personality. Never stage anything that stresses the animal.
Hooks to try:
- "My dog reviews every treat in the pet store."
- "What my cat does when I leave for work."
- "Day 1 vs today of teaching my rescue to trust people."
4. Faceless tutorials and how-tos
Plain tutorials had a 62K median overall, but the split by camera is the most useful finding for anyone who teaches. Faceless tutorials had a 156K median and 22.1% past 1 million. On-camera tutorials had 52K and 10%. Hands at work, screen recordings and top-down shots keep the eye on the result, not the presenter.
Keep one technique per video, show the end result first, then the steps. Add text overlays for every number, setting or ingredient so people can follow on mute. If you'd rather not film at all, a faceless video generator can turn a script into narrated scenes.
Hooks to try:
- "The shortcut nobody showed you in Excel."
- "Three ingredients, no oven, done before the kettle boils."
- "Stop doing this when you paint a wall."
5. POV videos
POV was the strongest shooting style: a 107K median and 19% past 1 million. Screen recordings had 91K, handheld 80K, tripod 77K, and selfie-style videos only 48K. A POV puts the viewer inside the scene ("POV: you're the new hire and..."), which pulls them through to the end.
POV works as a comedy setup, a story or a tutorial. Film at eye level from the character's position, keep the first line on screen as text, and let the situation do the work.
Hooks to try:
- "POV: you're the only one who read the email."
- "POV: your first shift at a bakery at 4 a.m."
6. Reactions, duets and stitches
Reactions had a 105K median and 16% past 1 million. TikTok's Duet places your video side by side with another, and Stitch lets you open with a short clip of someone else's video before yours. Both put your reaction in front of people already interested in the original.
Add something the original lacks: an expert correction, a counterpoint, the part 2 nobody filmed. A blank stare or a laugh over someone else's work adds little and earns little.
7. Transformation and before/after videos
Transformations show a clear contrast: a messy room made over, a rusted bike restored, a makeup look built from bare skin. Open on the "before" for a beat, cut through the key moments, and land on the reveal. Skip the slow middle steps, since the reveal is the payoff.
This works well for faceless accounts because the project is the star. Browse current examples in the transformation TikTok video finder to see which reveals people share.
Hooks to try:
- "I bought the worst-rated chair on Marketplace. Watch."
- "Same face, two hours apart."
8. Storytime, hot takes and Q&A
Storytelling had a 66K median, close to the overall average. Mood changes the outcome more than the format does. Outrage was the strongest mood (156K median, 23.7% past 1 million), followed by humor at 121K and sadness at 104K. Inspirational videos had only 45K.
Storytime is also the format that talks the most. Videos with speech throughout had a 68K median, while videos with under 40 characters of speech had 123K. Tell the story in as few words as it takes, open on the conflict, and let on-screen text carry the rest. For Q&A, answer one viewer comment per video using TikTok's reply-to-comment video, which shows the question on screen.
Hooks to try:
- "My landlord kept my deposit. Here's how I got it back."
- "Unpopular opinion: nobody should tip on takeout."
- "You asked how I quit my job without a plan."
9. Behind-the-scenes and day-in-the-life
Behind-the-scenes videos show the process behind something people normally only see finished: a bakery's morning prep, a song being recorded, an order being packed. For small businesses this is often the easiest format to post every day, because the material already exists.
Pick one moment with a visible change (dough to bread, empty box to packed order) instead of filming the whole day. A time-lapse with text overlays beats ten minutes of raw footage.
Hooks to try:
- "Packing orders for my tiny candle business."
- "What a dentist does before the first patient arrives."
10. Product reviews and unboxings
Reviews help viewers decide what to buy, so they hold attention when they're honest. Show the product in use with close-ups, say one thing you dislike, and disclose any sponsorship. The pros-and-cons structure also builds trust over time.
Reviews can earn through TikTok Shop. In the US, affiliate creators must apply themselves, be at least 18 and have at least 1,000 followers. Accounts under 5,000 followers start in a pilot program for at least 30 days.
Hooks to try:
- "I tested the viral cleaning paste so you don't have to."
- "Is the cheap version just as good? Side by side."
11. Lip-sync and trend remixes
Lip-syncs to a trending sound, a famous movie line or a comedic audio clip take minutes to make, which is why there are so many of them. To stand out, change the context: a line from a courtroom drama acted out over a dishwasher argument, or a trending sound applied to your niche ("accountants during tax season").
Keep a remix short and use rising sounds, and pair it with a few relevant tags from the trending TikTok hashtags list. Remember the warning above: lip-syncs don't count as original for Creator Rewards.

12. AI video ideas for TikTok
AI-generated videos now have their own formats: talking fruit dramas, animal stories, "what if" history explainers, Reddit stories over gameplay, cinematic micro-dramas. In Revid's study of AI videos vs real footage, AI-generated TikToks averaged twice the views of real footage. The same study found AI visuals cluster in the lowest engagement tier on X, Instagram and Threads, so test before you cross-post.
TikTok requires a label on AI-generated content that shows realistic images, audio or video. TikTok says turning that label on does not affect distribution if the video follows the Community Guidelines.

How to turn an idea into a TikTok video concept
An idea is a topic ("coffee"). A TikTok video concept is a topic plus a format plus a payoff ("POV: a barista judges your order, ranked from worst to best"). Fill in this template before you film:
- Hook: the first line, spoken and on screen. Pick a pattern from these TikTok hooks.
- Format: one of the twelve above.
- Setup: the situation in one sentence.
- Payoff: the reveal, punchline, answer or result.
- Loop or prompt: an ending that sends viewers back to the start, or a question for the comments.
The caption counts too. In Revid's data, captions of 41 to 80 characters had the best median (67K views) and videos with no caption had 36K. Videos with 4 hashtags had a 77K median, while 9 or more hashtags dropped to 16K.
What makes the most creative TikTok videos?
The most creative TikTok videos rarely invent a new format. They apply a proven format to a subject nobody expected: a nature-documentary voice-over for an office meeting, a makeover for a dog kennel, a tutorial filmed from the tool's point of view. Three ways to force a fresh angle:
- Swap the subject: take a trending format and put your niche in it.
- Swap the viewpoint: tell it from the object, the pet, the customer or the villain.
- Add a constraint: one take, no words, only one color, one item from each shop.

Make these TikTok ideas with Revid
Revid can start from a format that is already working instead of a blank page:
- Search Revid's library of about 2.77 million real short-form videos by topic and engagement tier to find a challenge, skit or tutorial already pulling views in your niche.
- Open it and run the free Deep analysis to see its hook, timed structure and three ways to adapt it to another niche.
- Choose "Make it about your topic" or "Same energy, new script". Revid writes an original script and generates the visuals, voice-over, captions and music. This is the repurpose viral videos workflow.
- Adjust any scene in the timeline editor, then publish or schedule straight to TikTok.
If you already have an idea or a link, the AI TikTok video generator turns it into a vertical voice-over video in the same way.
Reuse every idea on Reels and Shorts
Most of these formats work on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts with small changes. Instagram allows up to 5 hashtags per post, and YouTube classifies square or vertical videos up to 3 minutes as Shorts. For a wider plan, these content repurposing strategies from Lumeo cover how to get more out of each video across platforms.
FAQ
What should I post on TikTok as a beginner?
Start with a format that needs little skill and no audience yet: pet clips, POV skits, faceless tutorials or behind-the-scenes from your work. Post the same format several times so you can see which hook works, then change one thing at a time.
How long should a TikTok video be?
Length matters less than you'd think. In Revid's 12-month sample, every length bucket from under 15 seconds to 10 minutes had a median between 58K and 76K views, with 61 to 90 seconds slightly ahead at 70K. If you want Creator Rewards, only videos of at least one minute can earn.
How many hashtags should I use on TikTok?
Use about 3 or 4 relevant hashtags. In Revid's data, 4 hashtags had a 77K median and 3 had 75K, while no hashtags had 51K and 9 or more only 16K.
Are TikTok video ideas different in the UK?
The formats are the same; what changes are the references, so use local slang, brands, places and seasons in your skits and stories. On timing, Revid's data put the strongest posting window at 3 to 6 a.m. US Eastern, which is mid-morning in the UK. English-language TikToks in that sample come from creators worldwide.
Can I make TikTok videos without showing my face?
Yes, and the data favors it. Faceless videos had a 114K median against 67K for one person on camera. Animal videos, faceless tutorials and faceless comedy were among the strongest performers.
