A Mukbang Challenge Turned Tragic

The sun had barely climbed high over Kananga, Leyte. Rogelio Adriano,

a vlogger who’d been building his audience with mukbangs — eating shows where creators consume

large amounts of food for viewers — was no stranger to making bold content. He lived modestly,

hopeful that his videos might one day help lift his family beyond their hardships.

 One day, a follower slid into his messages with what seemed

like a tempting offer: “Eat a whole roasted chicken — bones and all — on camera,
