Alan Turing was a brilliant mathematician who saw the world differently. During World War
II, his work at Bletchley Park helped crack the Enigma code, saving millions
of lives and shortening the war by years. Yet his contributions were kept secret, and his genius went
largely unrecognized at the time. After the war, Turing laid the foundations of modern
computing and artificial intelligence, asking a radical question: Can machines think?
But instead of being celebrated, he was persecuted for being gay — convicted and subjected
to chemical castration under British law. Despite humiliation and isolation, Turing continued
to think, imagine, and create. His life ended tragically, but his ideas reshaped
