There's this ancient tale about a girl named Amara who could speak to the Adze,
those firefly vampires from Ewe mythology. When a massive drought threatened to destroy every village from
the Sahel to the Congo Basin, she realized the water spirits were angry because the
tribes had forgotten their shared origins. Amara journeyed across deserts and rainforests,
collecting sacred objects. A Mami Wata gave her a shell that held ocean songs.
The Anansi spider taught her wisdom through riddles. She even befriended a Ninki Nanka,
