America’s Lost Nuclear Weapons

The U.S.government has openly admitted to losing nuclear weapons. They’re called Broken

Arrow incidents — accidents involving nuclear weapons. In 1961,

a B-52 bomber broke apart mid-air over North Carolina. Two nuclear bombs fell.

One was recovered. The other wasn’t. The bomb didn’t detonate, but official records

say most of its safety systems failed. In 1965, a U.S.

jet rolled off an aircraft carrier and sank into the Pacific Ocean carrying a nuclear

weapon. It was never recovered. The U.S. has acknowledged at least 32 nuclear

weapon accidents. Several weapons are still listed as unrecovered.
