These 900-year-old temple pillars were made with machine precision — but machines didn’t
even exist back then. 🤯 The Hoysala temples of Karnataka have pillars so perfectly
circular and symmetrical that modern engineers tested them with laser scanners… and found 0.01mm
accuracy — the same as industrial lathes. Each pillar has flawless spiral grooves and uniform
depth cuts, as if the stone was spun at a controlled speed. Archaeologists even
discovered tool marks suggesting rotational cutting technology existed 900 years ago.
Yet even today’s master sculptors can’t recreate this perfection without machines.
Did ancient India already master mechanical engineering long before the modern world?
