Among Hanumanji's many divine names, one of the most beautiful is Anjaneya, which simply means
the son of Anjani. Anjani Devi, originally the celestial nymph Punjika, was cursed to be
born on earth. It was through deep tapasya that she received the blessing of becoming the
mother of one of the greatest beings to ever walk this world. Along with Anjani,
his earthly father is Kesari, the valiant king of the Vanaras. But his divine heavenly
father is Vayudev, the wind god, which is why Hanumanji is also called Maruti, the son of Maruta.
Every name of Hanumanji carries a story, but Anjaneya reminds us of the purity, devotion,
and strength that came from a mother's heart and a deity's blessing. Follow for more
