Appalachian Morning Train

The rooster crows, the sun breaks through. A golden haze on the mountain

blue. My boots hit the ground. The dew still clings.

A whistle echoes, the morning sings. Appalachian morning train. Rolling down the line.

Through the hills, past the pines. Where the wild hearts shine. Clickity-clack,

hear the rhythm refrain. There's freedom on that Appalachian morning train.

Fields of corn and the cabins glow. The life I've known where the

rivers flow. Mama's calling biscuits in the pan. But I'm chasing dreams on that

iron span. Oh, the wind it hums and the wheels they cry.
