Before conducting a VFR flight, I must ensure the aircraft meets the required equipment
listed in FAR 91.205. To remember this, I use the acronym ATOMATOFLAMES. A stands for Airspeed
indicator, which shows the aircraft’s speed through the air. T is the Tachometer,
used to monitor engine RPM. O represents the Oil pressure gauge, ensuring proper
engine lubrication. M is the Manifold pressure gauge, required for aircraft with a controllable-pitch
propeller. A stands for the Altimeter, which shows altitude above mean sea level.
T represents the Temperature gauge for liquid-cooled engines. O is the Oil temperature
gauge for air-cooled engines. F is the Fuel quantity gauge, indicating fuel
