The American West was getting trashed long before Instagram existed. Back in the late
1800s, tourists were literally trampling geysers and ruining ancient sites until legends
like Teddy Roosevelt stepped in. They invented the National Park system to lock down these
lands for preservation, making sure places like Yellowstone stayed wild instead of turning into
shopping malls. It is all about protecting biodiversity and keeping ecosystems intact.
But it is tricky because millions of us visit every year, causing erosion
and pollution. We have to balance the adventure with conservation, or we risk losing
the very nature we are trying to see.
