Best Friend Skipped My Birthday Dinner

“I planned a small birthday dinner with just my close friends. I didn’t want anything

big, just something low-key with people I’m actually close to. My best friend asked

if her boyfriend could come. I said no because I barely know him and I wanted the

night to feel comfortable. She didn’t argue at the time, but she went quiet afterward.

Later she texted me saying I was being controlling and that it was weird I didn’t want

him there. I tried to explain that it wasn’t about him, it was about my

birthday. The day of my birthday she didn’t show up. She didn’t text

or call. That night I saw she posted pictures with her boyfriend instead.
