Blindsided by a Breakup

Part 1: "The Breakup" I was with my ex, Katie, for four years. We met in college,

moved in together, and talked about marriage constantly. I thought we were rock solid.

But about six months ago, she started acting distant — staying late at work,

sleeping with her phone under her pillow. Classic signs, right?

Then one night, she hit me with, “I love you, but I think I found my soulmate… and

it’s not you.” Turns out she reconnected with some guy from high school on Facebook. They’d gone on one

date in 10th grade, and apparently that was enough for her to believe fate brought them back

together. I was blindsided. She moved out the next week. I didn’t fight it.
