Boiled Alive in Feudal Japan

What was the worst way to die in Ancient Japan? Historians agree that the worst death

was being boiled alive in a massive cauldron. This execution method was used during

the feudal period for serious crimes, and the process was designed to be as horrifying

as possible. The condemned person would be stripped and placed in a giant iron pot filled

with water or oil, then a fire would be slowly lit underneath. As the temperature rose,

their skin would blister and peel while guards used long poles to prevent any escape attempts.

The entire ordeal could last over an hour depending on how hot the executioners made the fire.

What made it even more disturbing was that sometimes they would throw in vegetables,
