Born to Soar

High in the mountains lived a young eagle named Arno. When he was a chick, a storm blew him

off the cliff, and he landed among chickens in a farmyard. The hens raised him as one of their

own. Arno learned to scratch the ground, peck at grains, and never looked

up at the sky. One day, an old eagle flew above and called out,

You don’t belong on the ground you were born to soar! Arno laughed, I’m just a chicken.

I can’t fly that high. The old eagle said softly, You can,

if you try once with faith. The next morning, Arno climbed a fence, spread his wings,

and jumped. At first, he wobbled but then the wind lifted him.
