Breach of Trust and Friendship

I once told a close friend something deeply personal during a hard period in my life.

I made it clear it was not something I wanted shared. Months later at a small gathering

she told the story as a funny anecdote. Everyone laughed while I sat there stunned.

I confronted her later and she said she thought enough time had passed and that people

needed to lighten up. She said she did not name me directly even though everyone

knew it was about me. I told her she broke my trust and I needed space.

She says I am overreacting and holding onto negativity. Others think I should forgive her because

she did not mean harm.
