Britain's first offshore wind farm just turned 25, and it's wild how far we've come.
Back in December 2000, the first turbines went up in Blyth, Northumberland,
making history in the choppy waters off the coast. Fast forward to today,
offshore wind is now the UK's second largest power source, right after gas. There are 47 operational
wind farms across Britain, pumping out 17% of the country's electricity and
creating 40,000 jobs. Energy minister Michael Shanks visited the site and called
it the backbone of Britain's clean energy system. Labour's pushing hard to hit their
2030 target of removing almost all fossil fuels from electricity. What started as an experiment in
