ever see. An AI agent = 3 things: A brain (the model) A reasoning layer

(goals, instructions, memory) Tools so it can actually take action

That’s it. Now let’s build one in n8n: Add an AI Agent node.

Open the chat → it errors → because it has no brain. Add a Chat Model (I’m using OpenAI).

Say “hello” → now it works. Add Memory so it can remember stuff like your name.

Add a Gmail node so it can send real emails. Click the button to let the model

auto-generate the email details. Add a system prompt so it knows its role.
