Caesar faced 368,000 Gauls at Bibracte with just 30,000 legionaries. The Helvetii charged

uphill in waves, hurling javelins and screaming war cries. Instead of meeting

them head on, Caesar ordered his men to throw their pila then immediately retreat to higher

ground. The Gauls, exhausted from climbing, broke formation chasing scattered

Romans. That's when Caesar struck. His cavalry hit their flanks while

infantry reformed and crushed them from above. The Helvetii lost 130,000 warriors.
