Cain and Abel: Jealousy’s Cost

Two brothers grew up side by side. Their names were Cain and Abel. Cain worked the

soil, turning seeds into food. Abel watched over sheep,

caring for his flock. One day, both brothers brought gifts to God. Abel chose the best

he had and gave it with a grateful heart. Cain also brought an offering—but

his heart was heavy. God accepted Abel’s gift. Cain noticed, and jealousy began

to grow. God warned Cain, “Why are you angry? You still have a choice.

Do what is right, and you will be accepted. But if you don’t, anger will control

you.” Cain didn’t listen. Out in the field, alone with his brother, Cain let his anger
