A catcher just won the Home Run Derby for the first time in history, and the way he pulled
it off is straight out of a movie. This is Seattle Mariners' catcher Cal Raleigh,
and he just put on a show at the 2025 Home Run Derby. But his historic win was almost over
before it even began. In the very first round, he found himself in a tie with Brent
Rooker, both with 17 home runs. It all came down to a wild tiebreaker
rule: whoever hit the single longest home run would advance. Listen to how close this was.
Raleigh’s longest blast traveled 470.62 feet. Rooker’s longest was 470 . 54 feet.
He literally moved on by a fraction of a foot. The margin was paper-thin. What's even crazier
