A catcher and switch-hitter just won the Home Run Derby for the first time in history. Seattle’s Cal Raleigh
put on an absolute show, defeating Junior Caminero in the final round by crushing
18 home runs. But his win was almost cut short in the most dramatic way possible.
In the first round, he was tied with Brent Rooker. To get there, he hit eight homers
left-handed, took a timeout, then switched to the right side and hit nine more.
Since they were still tied, the winner was decided by the longest home run.
Raleigh advanced because his longest shot was 470.62 feet, beating Rooker’s
by less than a single inch. The guy is having a monster season with 38 homers before
