Many parents ask this question. “Is there a safe way to wash pesticides off?”
Here’s the honest answer. There is no washing method that removes all pesticides.
Water helps remove dirt. Vinegar, salt, or baking soda may
reduce some surface residue. But pesticides absorbed inside the fruit stay there.
That’s because many chemicals enter the produce while it grows. Washing only cleans
the outside. So the safest strategy isn’t washing harder. It’s choosing smarter. For high-risk fruits,
organic matters more. For thick-skinned fruits, peeling helps.
And rotating foods reduces repeated exposure. This isn’t about fear.
