Repetitive questions from your loved one with dementia aren't meant to annoy you.
Their brain physically can't hold the information you just told them. Here's what actually works.
First, respond to their emotion, not the words. If they're asking
about an appointment repeatedly, they're actually expressing anxiety. Say something like
"I know you're worried, but I'll be with you the whole time." Second, write answers on
a whiteboard they can see. Visual cues stick better than verbal responses.
Third, when you feel frustrated, redirect their attention to an activity they enjoy.
