Cats have the physical capability to press guitar strings but their paw structure makes it nearly

impossible to form proper chords. Their claws can actually produce sound when they

scratch across strings, creating an accidental strumming effect. Scientists discovered that cats can recognize

musical patterns and some even respond to specific guitar frequencies between 500 and 1000 hertz.

A study in Japan found that three percent of cats showed interest in string instruments

when exposed to them regularly. The vibrations from acoustic guitars can be soothing

to cats because they mimic purring frequencies. However, their lack of opposable
