Caught Between Reporting and Silence

I found out my attending was sleeping with a resident during my shift and suddenly every weird schedule

change made sense. The whispered conversations in the supply closet. The way she always got the easy rotations.

I confronted her in the locker room and she didn't even deny it. Just looked at me

with these exhausted eyes and said some of us do what we have to do to survive residency.

Now I'm stuck knowing this secret that could destroy careers while watching them make decisions about

patient care together. The power dynamic is so messed up and I can't unsee it.

Every time they're in a room together my stomach turns. Do I report it and become the person

who ruined lives or stay silent and compromise everything I believe in.
