Caught Off Guard at His Office

I went to his office to surprise him with lunch because he had a huge deadline. I knew the door

code. I walked in and it was completely empty, which was weird

because his car was in the parking lot. I walked around the corner and saw

him in the conference room. He was laughing and sharing a take-out container with his

coworker, the one he always said was just kind of annoying. They were sitting

across from each other, but her hand was resting on his knee. I just stood there

for a minute until he finally looked up and saw me. I dropped the food and left without

saying a single word.
