Charlemagne’s Empire of Forced Faith

It's 768 CE. Western Europe is fractured after Rome’s fall. A crowned warlord promises order through

steel and prayer. Unity spreads fast. So does something darker. Frankish kings rule

by blood and battlefield loyalty. This one expands faster than any rival alive.

Charles, later called Charlemagne, inherits in 768. He claims divine mandate to rebuild

empire. Beneath piety lives obsession with absolute conformity. Faith is not chosen.

It is enforced. Law, church, and sword merge into one system.

Conversion becomes policy. Resistance becomes treason. In Saxony,

refusal means death or deportation. In 782. About 4,500 executed in a single day.
