Choosing Too Late

I had a backup guy. I thought having options meant being safe. I was wrong.

In high school, I was 90 kilos. Invisible. The girl no one ever chose.

I started walking through the river park every night. I wanted to lose weight.

I wanted to disappear. I hated the girl I saw in the mirror. Then college happened. A new city.

A new start. And somehow… a new me. Suddenly, guys noticed me.

Compliments. Messages. Attention I never had before. That’s where I met

him. At the campus smoking area. Quiet. Nervous.

Hands shaking. He leaned in and said, “Cute outfit…” I smiled back.
