Chrome Extension Caught Stealing AI Conversations

A Chrome extension with six million users just got caught stealing your private AI conversations.

Urban VPN Proxy, which even had Google's Featured badge, was secretly recording everything you typed

into ChatGPT, Gemini, and other AI chatbots. The extension injected hidden scripts that

captured your prompts, the AI responses, timestamps, and session data, then sent it all

back to their servers. Most users had no idea this was happening because Chrome updates extensions automatically.

The company behind it, Urban Cyber Security, is linked to a data broker that sells

this harvested information to marketing firms. Seven other extensions from the same developer were doing the exact

same thing. The only way to stop it was completely uninstalling the extension.
