A video game might’ve just figured out how to fix the housing crisis—and a lot of people won’t
like the answer. In *Cities: Skylines 2*, the developers tried to simulate a realistic
economy: jobs, wages, housing, everything. And just like real
life, housing prices got so high that nobody in the city could afford a home.
So the simulation changed one thing. It got rid of landlords. No renting. Homes could only
be bought by the people who actually lived in them. And after a little time?
Prices dropped. People could afford homes again. The economy stabilized. It’s not a perfect
model of real life—but it shows one thing clearly: when housing stops being an investment and starts being
