Coral reefs cover less than 0.2% of our ocean but house 30% of all marine life.
They're basically underwater cities built by tiny animals working with algae partners.
But here's the problem. When water gets just half a degree too warm, corals kick out
their algae roommates in panic. This is bleaching. Without their algae, corals starve and
turn ghost white. Think of it like evicting the chef from your house then wondering why
there's no food. Since the 1980s, 19% of reefs have already died. The Great Barrier
Reef lost half its coral in just 27 years. These reefs protect coastlines,
feed 500 million people, and generate billions in tourism. We're losing our
