Core Components of AI Agents

AI agents are simple applications designed to achieve a goal by observing inputs, reasoning about

what to do, and taking action using tools. They’re made up of three core parts:

a model (the LLM that acts as the brain), an orchestration layer (which handles

goals, instructions, memory, and decision-making), and tools (which

let the agent interact with the real world, like sending emails or accessing apps). When combined,

these components give agents autonomy, allowing them to work independently—and even collaborate

with other agents—to get tasks done with minimal human input.
