Cuba, a vibrant island, faced a turning point. Pre-revolution,
inequality and unrest plagued its wealthy facade. Batista's brutal dictatorship suppressed freedoms and
enriched a few. This oppression fueled a deep desire for change. Fidel Castro,
a charismatic lawyer, envisioned a Cuba free from foreign influence. He rallied support.
Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, an Argentine physician, brought fierce ideology and guerrilla tactics. Their partnership was
pivotal. From the Sierra Maestra mountains, their guerrilla army launched a fierce
struggle, challenging Batista's forces. On January 1, 1959, Batista fled.
Castro's triumph led to a socialist government, nationalizing industries. Cuba's communism was
