On November twenty-fourth, nineteen seventy-one, while millions of Americans were preparing for Thanksgiving,

a quiet man walked into an airport in Portland, Oregon. No one noticed him.

He wasn’t running. He wasn’t nervous. He wasn’t hiding. He simply bought a one-way ticket

to Seattle and boarded Northwest Orient Flight three-zero-five. That man would later become known as

D.B. Cooper. And he would go on to commit the only skyjacking

in American history that the FBI never solved. The flight was short. Barely thirty minutes.

Only thirty-six passengers were onboard. Cooper sat in seat eighteen C.
