De-Icing Procedure Failures Investigated

The contract company that's gonna spray this jet off, I think it was run by American Airlines,

they failed to comply with, um, those rules. And what gets more

weird is that there was one de-icing vehicle that was getting used by two different companies,

two different operators of the anti-ice, and they would use a wildly, widely d-different

mixture percentages of de-ice, and this gets bad, because now they're de-icing the airplane

with two different trucks, two different solutions, the left and right side.

So, uh, when they tested the de-icing trucks after the accident,

the mixture disperd- dispense was way different. There was 18% actual versus 30% select,
