Most soldiers didn’t die in battle… they died before the war even started. 😳
During World War Two, there was a huge rush to train new pilots.
Planes were new, training was rushed, and safety rules were weak. Because of this,
more than 15,000 pilots died during training—not in combat, but while learning
how to fly. Many crashes happened because of pilot mistakes or mechanical failures.
One plane was so dangerous it got a terrifying nickname: the B-24 bomber was called ‘the
flying coffin.’ And here’s the shocking part… about 30 percent of American pilot deaths in WWII happened
outside of combat.
