Drowning in a Dream

Pull the engine from a ghost Jeep. Ex was in the seat,

making it beep. Aquarium glass like a mirror maze. They tossed me in.

I hit the waves. Crabs below, sharks circling tight. I freeze mid-breath,

ocean's my fight or flight. Drenched in denim, can't feel my face.

Drowning in dread in this watery place. Magical stick dries me off,

thanks brain. Two steps later soaked again in shame. I'm wet again

in a memory I never made. Swimming with lies in a mermaid parade.

Security hands me a strawberry place. The show's over, dude, you're already late.
