Elphaba’s emotional new ballad in Wicked Part Two was originally way longer before getting slashed.
Composer Stephen Schwartz admitted that unlike Glinda’s new track, Elphaba’s song No
Place Like Home was a struggle to crack. They actually cut a huge intro and
childhood home scene to focus entirely on her saving the animals. Cynthia Erivo calls
the final cut a powerful song of resistance that proves she loves Oz even when it
hates her.
