Emergency Response for Allergic Reactions

Nurse brain: this is what we think first. Patient has sudden swelling,

hives, and difficulty breathing. First, ensure airway is open and patient

can breathe. Second, check blood pressure and level of consciousness to assess severity.

Third, alert physician immediately and prepare epinephrine if indicated.
