What if I told you the first Black child born in America wasn’t during slavery—but in 1621,
and his name was William Tucker? Most people don’t know his name. Just like they don’t
know that Jackie Robinson’s older brother, Mack Robinson, actually broke the
Olympic record in 1936… But still took silver—because he finished right behind Jesse Owens.
Or that before changing music forever, Chuck Berry studied cosmetology and became a licensed
hairdresser. Between 1810 and 1850, over 100,000 enslaved Africans escaped
using the Underground Railroad, risking death for freedom. In 2012,
Gabby Douglas became the first Black gymnast in history to win an Olympic all-around gold.
