Eru and the Great Music

In the timeless void, there was Eru Ilúvatar, the All-Father, the supreme being.

His first creations were the Ainur, or "Holy Ones," spirits brought forth from his thought.

These beings were akin to angels, each embodying a different facet of Eru’s mind and

possessing immense power and wisdom. Among them, the greatest was Melkor,

who had been granted the largest share of power and knowledge, and who was eager to create things

of his own. Eru gathered the Ainur and revealed to them a magnificent theme of music,

a melody of breathtaking complexity and beauty. He commanded them to take this theme and weave it into

a Great Music, each using their own unique voice and understanding to enrich the composition.
