This video explains six grammar rules from this semester: commas, semicolons,
colons, subject-verb agreement, verb tense, and active versus passive voice.
First, a comma rule. When a full date with month, day,
and year appears in the middle of a sentence, use a comma after the day and after
the year if the sentence continues. One example is: “On March 14, 2025,
the class took a chemistry exam.” The commas set the date off from the rest of the sentence.
Next, a semicolon rule. Use semicolons to separate items in a list when the
items already contain commas, so each part stays clear. A sentence like
