Experiment Thirteen

I stepped into the abandoned lab and instantly regretted it. The air tasted like

copper and rot. Broken equipment lined the walls like dead bodies, their wires dangling

like exposed veins. Everyone said to stay away from this place. I should've listened.

In the center sat a massive glass chamber filled with thick gray fog that moved against the

wind. The metal door slammed behind me. Every light in the building died except

one flickering bulb above the chamber. Then I heard breathing that wasn't mine. You're next.

The whisper came from everywhere and nowhere. I lunged for the door but it wouldn't

budge. My hands were shaking so badly I could barely grip the handle.
