Your failure is completely useless if you did not actually try your hardest. Most of us walk
around using half-hearted effort as a shield because it is a defense mechanism we all have installed
in our brains. If you start a business but don't really go all in, or you ask someone
out but make it look like a joke, or you study for the exam only the night before,
you are building a psychological safety net. If you fail, you can shrug it
off and say well I didn't really try anyway so it doesn't count. It protects your
ego. It keeps you from feeling like you are inherently not good enough.
