Fair Pay for Babysitting Time

Imagine showing up for a babysitting gig and getting paid less because the baby decided

to be on her best behavior. That happened to me last weekend while babysitting

for a couple down the street. The baby knocked out in 20 minutes flat,

and the rest of the night was a breeze. But when the parents came back and found

out how easy my night was, they laughed it off and handed me cash equivalent

to just an hour’s pay instead of four. Their logic? I didn’t "do much" since the baby was

asleep the whole time. I reminded them that my job included being there just

in case, but they didn’t budge, promising to "make it up next time."
