Feeling Hurt Over Birthday Neglect

Am I overreacting? My birthday was last week. My boyfriend didn’t text,

didn’t call, didn’t even say anything when I got home. When I brought it

up later that night, he said he was “swamped with work” and it slipped his mind. I understand that

work gets busy, but it honestly stung a lot. We’ve been together for three years,

and I’ve never missed theirs. I plan dinners, buy thoughtful gifts, make it special.

I didn’t expect a huge gesture in return, but at least some acknowledgment would’ve

meant a lot. When I told them I felt hurt, he said I was “being childish” and that

birthdays “don’t matter anyway.” But it matters to me. Am I overreacting
