Ferrari almost went bankrupt at the peak of its racing glory. In the 1960s,
Ferrari looked unstoppable, winning races, building legends. But behind the scenes, the company was
bleeding money. Racing was insanely expensive. Road car sales were limited,
and Ferrari was running out of cash fast. Pride was high, the bank balance
wasn't. So Enzo Ferrari did something fans still argue about. He sold part of
Ferrari, not to racers, not to enthusiasts, but to Fiat. Fans thought Ferrari
had sold its soul. Critics said the brand was finished. If this deal failed, hmm,
Ferrari was done. Fiat handled the money. Ferrari kept control of racing.
