There are Filipino superstitions when attending or coming home from a wake… they’re not just

meant to scare you. First, never go straight home. You need to stop

somewhere else— because some spirits may follow. Second, wash your hands

as soon as you get home, to cleanse the energy you brought with you.

Third, never wear red to a wake. They say it attracts unseen entities.

Fourth, don’t bring food home from a wake. Some things should never be taken with

you. Fifth, don’t stare at the coffin for too long. They might think

you’re ready to take its place. Sixth, loud laughter or games are forbidden
