Finding Light in the Darkness

After her divorce, Amelia moved into a tiny apartment above a bookstore. She spent most nights

sitting at the window, watching the city lights blur into gold. But tonight felt

different. Tonight, she felt the ache of loneliness more sharply than usual.

As she reached to close the curtain, she noticed a small inscription etched into the windowsill:

“When everything feels dark, look for the light that looks back.” Underneath,

a date, twenty years old. Intrigued, Amelia leaned closer. Across the alleyway,

a man appeared at his window, older, gentle in posture, holding a sketchbook.

He lifted it, revealing a charcoal drawing of her. Confused, she pointed at herself.
